Life? What's it for anyway?

I've wondered many times, since I've discovered that I'm aflicted with a medical condition, what are we here for anyway? Look at us, some of us will live to our 80's, and yet some of us will die young. After someone dies, everything he/she ever endeavored will be of little consequence ... it won't matter because that person is gone ... so, what's the point of living.

I've heard it said our purpose for living is the procreation of our species...if this is true, then a few of us really are without a reason. So you decide to have fun with your life; you are a musician, or a sports hero... even if you are in someones memory, it won't matter when that person croaks now, will it. Ane still, all your toilings will be for naught if you have no children.

What I wanted to talk about when starting this blog, is how animals, insects have a heirarchy of status in our minds....for instance, cats and dogs have alot more status in our lives then say chickens. We cuddle our dogs and cats, but do we cuddle our chickens? No, we slaughter them! I'm glad I wasn't put on this earth as a chicken.

Another example is in the rodent family. Why do gerbles and hampsters have more status than mice and rats? They all look pretty much the same, they are all just as worthless as eachother, except mice and rats have more value in a snake cage, or a labrotory setting.
Who decided which animals would have more status?
