When eating a meal in any of the Ouachita parish restaurants, check out who is sitting near you. If you see a gator,, don’t worry. That gator is probably just a man, it’s probably Gator Dan.
I am Gator Dan and I review Ouachita Parish eating establishments.
I creep out of the bayou, crawling into restaurants of all shapes and sizes. From restaurants that are cheep and fast to expensive restaurants with chef prepared meals, I give each of them a bite rating (between 0 and 5) in the following areas:
· cleanliness
· decor
· service
· accuracy of order
· food quantity
· food quality
· presentation
· price
· Taste.
0 bites means the rated area is as bad as it gets, while 5 indicates the rated area is top notch.
I then give an over all “restaurant” rating of between 0 and 5 gulps. 0 gulps: your patronage is not recommended. Eat at your own risk. 5 gulps: Highly recommended. Eat here every chance you get
This week I visited Peking, Chinese restaurant located at 412 Thomas Rd. West Monroe.
With quite a large week night crowd, this place seems to be a favorite of many area residents, and although we had to spread out to make room for our ‘gator tails, ample seating made it easy for my family and me to sit and eat in comfort.
When entering the restaurant, the hostess didn’t seem to mind seating ‘gators at all; informing us that if we bite, she’ll bite back.

· accuracy of order: N/A (Buffet)

· food quality: 4 bites

Overall, this restaurant did a very good job of feeding me. I gave décor a 3 because I felt the restaurant’s decorations could be both updated, and more numerous. I would have given taste a 5, but I felt a few of the dishes tasted a little too salty which detracted from my dining experience.
I was impressed by the speed of the waitresses removing dirty plates from my table. It was like they had mental telepathy. As soon as a plate was pushed toward the table’s edge, ‘swoosh”, it was gone! For this reason, and others, I gave service a 5. Without question, I Will eat here again!
