When eating a meal in any of the Ouachita parish restaurants, check out who is sitting near you. If you see a gator,, don’t worry. That gator is probably just a man, it’s probably Gator Dan.

I am Gator Dan and I review Ouachita Parish eating establishments. I creep out of the bayou, crawling into restaurants of all shapes and sizes. From restaurants that are cheep and fast to expensive restaurants with chef prepared meals, I give each of them a bite rating (between 0 and 5) in the following areas:

• Taste.

This week I visited Church’s Chicken located at 607 Cypress Street, West Monroe.

Puzzled people stepped aside when my gator wife and I slithered into Church’s chicken Wednesday evening for the box dinner we would take home. The guy at the counter was attentive and eager to please as we ordered up our fried-featherless-delights.

Overall, this restaurant did a pretty good job of satisfying my Gator family’s tummy rumble. I gave décor a 2 because the restaurant was sparsely decorated at best. Cleanliness was given a 2 because fountain drink lids and napkins were in disarray, in addition to the men’s restroom being dirty although 2 restaurant employees were standing outside the front door smoking cigarettes.

The chicken was average in taste, but it was hot and well cooked. Additionally, hot sides were hot and cold sides were cold; all of which give food quality a 4 bite rating.

Overall Restaurant Rating: 3.5 gulps.
