Pictures of Anorexia (Super Thin Girls)

***TEN PICTURES BELOW***

These Pictures were sent to me in an e-mail joke that was also forwarded to or from at least a thousand other people.

Now I can understand the puzzlement people have wondering how (in this day and age)
young girls can look this way and consider themselves to be beautiful, but callously using the plight of these girls making a cheap joke is beyond me.

I feel sorry for these girls.

Looking at the pictures, they look as if they believe themselves to be beautiful. It looks to me as if they’ve reached their weight goals and are perfectly happy with how they look. Talk about body image issues!

I believe they’ve met their weight goals because of the glamorous clothing most of them are wearing. And because of the extent to which most are revealing their body structure. To me, they look like the walking dead! They look like skin covered skeletons.

I feel sorry for these girls and the rest of the world’s girls who suffer from anorexia and bulimia. I pray they get the help they need to live more healthy lives in the future.

What can we do if we know someone who looks this way? I think the only thing we can do is express our concerns to them. Encourage them to speak to a professional who can help them identify that there is something pathological going on in the mind of that person. Do this from the standpoint of love, reserving judgment.

I’m not sure, but I don’t think simply telling the person she’s too skinny will help. And, in the context of the modeling industry, the girls would never believe you anyway. They actually and truly believe that people love the way their bony frames look, and for some strange reason clothing designers seem to want the super skinny bodies modeling their clothing, perpetuating this crisis.

If I’m mistaken here, please clue me in. Maybe the modeling industry isn’t really that bad these days. Maybe the girls in the pictures here aren’t models at all, but just a bunch of regular girls with severe body image issues. What ever the reason and cause for the girl’s plight, the problem remains and needs to be addressed.

Erm, honestly, I'm pretty positive those are photoshopped, either to scare or get a point across. The models these days may be severely skinny, but I've never seen ribs jutting out like that on a model. I don't think anyone would allow that.

I could be wrong, but those photos look awfully silly. I've never once seen girls that bony in magazines or on runways.

Vicious, thanks for your comment. It never crossed my mind that these images might be photoshopped. I don't recall ever seeing images this graphic in magazines either, but then again I very seldom look through glamour magazines. Thanks again for your input.
