Tonight on the CBS Evening News, we were informed about the disappointing jobs numbers for June. Then the network (and I say “the network” because it picks and chooses what news we get and how it’s delivered) mysteriously left the president out of it. HMMM.
The network gave some reasons for the poor numbers. Not in this particular order, they cited 1. Uncertainty 2. Increased taxes 3. Census jobs that expired 4. the oil spill, and that’s about it.
The network didn’t even mention the president’s name until later in the broadcast. But it did mention states that have to cut state workers pay. States like California, Illinois, and New York were mentioned. (some of the most liberal states in the union - Imagine that!) But this is getting off subject.
What is causing the uncertainty that is hurting the jobs market? I propose it’s things like “obama-care”, the ending of the Bush tax cuts, the Nationalization of our banking industry, proposed cap and trade, nationalization of our auto industry, an administration that will not secure our borders, an administration who didn’t do everything it could to fix the oil disaster before it got out of hand.
It’s amazing to me that none of these reasons were cited. What is wrong with CBS?
