Forward Observer for Interracial Unity

While at the Jackson, MS Greyhound station, I saw the following:

A black woman walks by displaying a seething angry monologue. Curse words were emanating from her like lava spewing from a volcano.

First of all, I didn’t think much of it. I thought, maybe a clerk in the Bus station did or said something that set her off.

Anyway, she walked away. A few moments later a black guy standing behind me said to a black woman nearby, “That’s what makes blacks look bad. You never see white women acting like that.”

I assured him they do, and told him, not to worry about it.

I speak with blacks all the time. I have great relationships with blacks. A black dude who works at the VA hospital affectionately calls me Monroe because of where I live. Every time he sees me, he says, “Hey Monroe” with a smile. .

My point is, I make an effort to show that I’m not racist. White people do things I don’t like just as much as blacks.

Let’s come together.

If you are a racist, if you have prejudiced ideals, I ask that you reconsider your position. We are all God’s children.

This story doesn't even touch on my "of color" army buddies. I'd die for them just as soon as I would my white buddies. There is no difference there.
