I have to weigh in here concerning the blatant miscarriage of justice that has landed two border patrol officers behind bars for at least a decade. The question I have to ask, is why the government seems to be more concerned about the health and welfare of a drug smuggling illegal alien than it does for the patrol agents who were doing there jobs
This is the stuff conspiracy theories are made of!
I am both glad and disappointed that congress is holding hearings concerning this matter; glad that some of our representatives have taken notice of this miscarriage, but disappointed that many republicans, including our president have turned their conscience off!
Why they are determined to make examples of these two officers leaves me feeling suspicious about our government’s future plans concerning Mexico. This afternoon, CNN took about 30 seconds to address/dispel what was noted as an “urban myth”: the intention of the government to build that ten lane superhighway through the nation’s heartland which will connect Mexico to Canada (and all points in between) while making it easier to pretend national borders don’t exist at all. Because of these issues, I can’t help but think that these matters as well as our government’s failure to enforce our immigration laws are related in some sinister way.
In the words of The Great American Red Neck, Earl Pitts, “WAKE UP AMERICA”! It’s time to get involved in the political process. Call, write, e-mail or visit your representative’s offices. Voice your opinions, get petitions going to support your views, and for our constitution’s sake, educate yourselves in terms of who the political candidates are, and what they stand for and vote accordingly. What we need are honest people who value and take pride in their integrity. We need people who will represent us, rather than wealthy overseas multinational corporations!!
Getting these kinds of people in office may take a drastic change in the way we nominate our candidates, the way their campaigns are financed, and the calculated yet unbalanced way they are covered in the media while campaigning. Although beneficial changes can’t occur overnight, with grit and unyielding determination, I’m sure we can once again be a nation “…of the people, by the people and for the people”.
