Area residents anticipate a high turnout at the first annual Bawcomville Redneck Christmas Parade that will take place December 1, 2007.


The cost to enter the parade is $10.00 or 1 new toy of equal value. “The proceeds will be used to purchase toys. We’ll go to the boy’s and Girl’s club, local schools and give the toys to those most needy.” Event organizer Debbie Clampit said.

Anyone can enter: Civic clubs, dog clubs, businesses, bike clubs etc. Referring to the redneck theme of the parade, “We just want to have fun with this.” Event organizer Pam Mann said.

20 to 25 participant application forms have already been picked up from S&J Farm and Feed in only the past few days. “We had no idea it was going to be this big.” event organizer, Debbie Clampit said. So far, participants include big trucks, floats, 4 wheelers, antique cars, riser middle school’s band,
a motorcycle club, as well as some horses and their owners.

Participant line up will occur off Washington Street in Riser Middle Schools’ parking lot at 10am. the parade is scheduled to begin at noon, turning East on Smith street; ending at Harvest foods parking lot located on the corner of Smith and Hwy 34.

Anyone interested in signing up can pick up an application at S&J Farm and Feed located at 1508 Thomas Road, west Monroe (near the paper mill). Pam Mann said, “There is no application deadline, but we’d like to have them in at least a week prior to the event so we can determine line-up order.

Area office staff, businesses, and organizations are encouraged to participate, dress up, and have fun with this redneck theme.
