Washington: Out of Touch with America

What are our elected officials doing in Washington?

Our nation can’t afford universal healthcare. Our nation can’t afford to borrow any more money, at all. Yet in Washington that seems to be what they are trying to do. They are trying to spend the dollar into oblivion.

Our nation needs jobs to earn the revenue necessary to pay back current debts. Instead, Washington want to borrow trillions more, and is passing bills that will kill jobs.

The way I understand it, the so called, “cap in trade” provision is one such provision in our national budget that will kill jobs. In the name of “climate change” many coal burning electric plants might have to shut down. Coal as an industry will suffer, and strains will be placed on our electric grids. As a result, prices of goods and services will increase to pay for increased fuel costs because higher costs will be passed on to consumers. In turn, consumers will buy less forcing other businesses to suffer then shut their doors. This is a cycle that would repeat untill millions of jobs are lost.

It seems as if our society has changed its focus from one of capitalism where those who get educated and/or word hard to get ahead are rewarded with the American dream. But people such as these have more than those who choose not work, or try as hard. We can’t have that! Today, more and more people think they are “entitled” to stuff without it having been earned.
Our government, in its infinite wisdom, is “redistributing wealth”. They’re spreading it around to those who didn’t earn it. This is not right! It is a disincentive for people who don’t work hard to get out there and strive for success. Instead, it tricks them into maintaining the status quo. This stealing by the government, through unfair and high taxes, also forces those who work so hard to ask themselves, “why am I working so hard?”
